Adobe Creative Cloud
Foto Print offers an optional Job Options file for Adobe applications, you may install it using the following steps and use it instead of "High Quality Print" when following the applications-specific steps further down on this page:
- Download the Fotoprint PDF .jobsettings file (Right click and choose 'Save as'). Do not open this file, there is no human-readable information. Save it to somewhere easy to find (like your desktop).
- (a) Open InDesign and choose 'File' > 'Adobe PDF Presets' > 'Define', then browse to the Fotoprint PDF settings file and click 'Done', or
(b) Open Illustrator and choose 'Edit' > 'Adobe PDF Presets' > 'Import', then browse to the Fotoprint PDF settings and click 'Open' > 'Ok'. - The next time you export a PDF, choose 'Fotoprint' from the 'Settings' or 'Adobe PDF Presets' menu in the PDF export dialogue box.
- Make sure to check your bleed settings in the PDF export box, they are not part of the .jobsettings file as they are unique to each document.
InDesign
- Choose
File > Export
. - Specify a name and location for the file.
- For “Save As Type” (Windows) or “Format” (Mac OS), choose “Adobe PDF (print)”, and then click Save.
- Choose Adobe PDF Preset “High Quality Print”
- Select the following options:
- Under “Marks and Bleeds > Marks” select Crop Marks
- Under “Marks and Bleeds > Bleed and Slug” make sure each box reads at least 0.625"
- Click
Export
(Windows) orSave
(Mac OS).
Illustrator
- Choose
File > Save As
orFile > Save A Copy
. - Specify a name and location for the file.
- Choose Adobe PDF (*.PDF) as the file format and click Save.
- Choose Adobe PDF Preset “High Quality Print”
- Select the following options:
- Under “Marks and Bleeds > Marks” select Trim Marks
- Under “Marks and Bleeds > Bleed and Slug” make sure each box reads at least 0.625"
- Click Save PDF (Windows) or
Save
(Mac OS).
Photoshop
Note that Photoshop doesn't provide easy options for defining a bleed or crop marks. It is recommended to place your assets into InDesign to create your final layout and PDF.
- Choose
File > Save As
, and then choose Photoshop PDF from the Format menu. - Specify a name and location for the file.
- Choose Adobe PDF (*.PDF) as the file format and click Save.
- Choose Adobe PDF Preset “High Quality Print”
- Click Save PDF (Windows) or
Save
(Mac OS).
